All about me? I love teaching and my family.
It is really that simple. Okay, on a more serious side, here is a bit about me...
Mrs. Anderson's background:
I grew up in Blissfield, Michigan where I lived with my husband Carl and our two sons David and Dylan until a few years ago when we moved to Ottawa Lake. I received a bachelor of science with a concentration in natural science, math, and elementary education from Siena Heights in 1992. I went back to Siena for my Master of Education degree in elementary education and received that in 2001.
I began my teaching career at the Franciscan Academy in 1993. While there I taught 2nd grade, kindergarten, and 3rd grade. In 1998 I moved to Whiteford Elementary School and taught 3rd grade. I taught 4th grade the following year and a 4/5 split the year after. After 16 years in the 4th grade, I moved to 6th grade to teach science and math! I then had the wonderful opportunity to develop the S.T.E.M. program for the K-7 students. Now I am excited to go back to the elementary and teach science and math to this wonderful group of 5th graders.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family. We love anything outdoors. We love fishing, boating, sporting events, swimming, and just hanging out. I love to read!! I am an avid reader and am excited to share my love of reading with your children. I also love music. I play the piano to wind down and listen to music throughout the day. I often have music playing in the classroom also. I will play jazz, classical, country, and instrumental along with some Disney classics. :)
Mrs. Anderson's philosophy:
We are all learners and we are have something to teach! I love learning and believe all students can learn in their own way and grow during their year in my classroom. I am passionate about teaching and am excited to share that with my students. I want to instill the love of learning in all my students. My goal as an educator is to provide the students with the tools they need to become successful and productive citizens, and the tools to learn as they travel through their schooling and beyond. I know my learning is constantly evolving and my students' learning will too. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to do a job every day that I truly love and I want that some day for my students.
